Elliptical vs Treadmill- Which One to Buy
Elliptical Vs Treadmill? That question is easily settled by knowing how each of both exercise and training machines are used.
Elliptical Vs Treadmill -How To Train on Treadmills
A treadmill is what may be considered as a moving road and is equipped with a rotating belt (usually rubberized) which causes anyone on it to walk or run while staying in place. After turning it on, you adjust the speed of the floor to give you just the right intensity of walking or running that you feel up to. In the middle of the training, you may adjust the speed seamlessly by pushing buttons on the console in front of you. To prevent yourself from getting fatigued early, you can switch from fast to slow when your legs begin to tire. You can turn it back on to fast speed as soon as you have recovered.
Elliptical Vs Treadmill -How Elliptical Trainers are Used
An elliptical trainer is so called because of the shape of the foot supports attached to it. The foot pads move with a gliding back and forth motion. All the while, the person’s feet do not leave their position on the footpads. The resulting motion is as if you were walking on air, your feet never making impact with a solid surface.
The speed with which the person’s feet move will depend entirely on the force and speed he applies to his training. Unlike the treadmill, adjusting one’s speed on an elliptical will involve nothing but slowing down your feet. The intensity of the training on an elliptical is modified by adjusting the tension or resistance in the pedals.
In addition to the foot platforms, an elliptical trainer is also equipped with both (1) a pair of swinging arms on the sides of the front of the machine, as well as a (2) rigid bar in between the arms. The user has the option of exercising his arms while training his legs. On the other hand, he may choose to hold on to the rigid bar for support. Other users will not hold on to anything while they manipulate the foot pads. This is a more intensive way to exercise on the elliptical. Elliptical Vs Treadmill -Which One Is Appropriate For Whom
Treadmills simulate the movement of a person while walking or running on solid ground. Therefore, a certain degree of impact is felt by his body every time his feet land on the ground. This type of workout is more ideal for younger people whose constitutions can benefit from being juggled on the machine.
For older people and other people with non-athletic constitutions which may not respond well to repeated impacts on their feet, the gliding and smooth motions of the elliptical will be more suitable.
